SCE 4th Graders with their Projects

Fourth grade students at Schley County Elementary have been working hard to learn all about the Native American tribes that inhabited the United States before European colonization changed the land. The students learned about the Inuit, Kwakiutl, Hopi, Pawnee, Nez Perce, and Seminole tribes.  They learned about the regions where these tribes lived, the natural resources available to them and how the natives used those resources in order to survive.  Students made totem poles to represent the Kwakiutl tribe and tepees in order to remember how the Pawnee led a nomadic lifestyle, searching the plains for buffalo.  Each student also chose a favorite tribe and wrote an informational essay about them, as well as designed a poster.
